Experience as a Capstone Scholar
My experience as a capstone scholar so far has been really positive. It is nice to be living with and surrounded by students who care about their academics at about the same level as I do. It is also great to have the University 101 class with people who I see often, coming in or out of the building and seeing familiar faces--especially when I first came to the University of South Carolina. I didn't have too many expectations when I first came here, not that I really specifically thought about anyway, but everything seems about how I had imagined it. The southern culture is not very different, and other than seeing cochroaches and lizards, the hot weather and the southern accents, South Carolina is not that much different from Pennsylvania. I had thought that living in a city would be really different from my rural town, but the USC campus makes it seem like you aren't even living in the middle of a city as major as Columbia.
